Relationships Australia – The 3 Websites AND 3 Tactics

When looking for relationships Australia, you’re going to feel overwhelmed. Due to the vastness of the country, there are a few great dating websites to choose from to help bring that task to reality. Trying each of these sites can help you connect with someone who shares not only your country but also shares your interests as well.

Eharmony

Eharmony is one of the most popular matchmaking sites in the world and it services Australia as well. This site does cost a bit of money and the memberships have a variety of levels to give you a better chance at finding the right match, but this can be worth it as they utilize science in matchmaking to help find the right mate for you.

Not only does Eharmony give you great access and helps with profile matching, but they have a variety of advice sections as well to help ensure you are not setting the bar too high or low and both you and your date can be comfortable. These advice sections are geared specifically for Australia so the application of the advice should be pretty simple.

RSVP

These guys are great!

RSVP has built up a fantastic reputation, over the past 15 years, of helping singles meet and make a great connection with each other. With over 1000 new members each and every day, RSVP keeps it fresh and new so any Aussie can find the match they are meant to be with.

RSVP offers Australians the flexibility of having their dating profile updated right to their mobile phone. Whether you are in Sydney enjoying the city, in the outback hunting the wildlife, or on the beaches surrounding the country, you can stay connected to your profile and find your match on RSVP.

Tease

I am just TEASING you’

Tease combines the flexibility of a dating website with social media. Not only can you follow others, you can comment, blog, post, and share much the same way you could on Facebook. If you are looking for a great free way to find that love connection, Tease is fantastic. You can see in depth profile information and follow the posts of your potential mates to get a better understanding of them.

Now we have covered a few of the dating websites offered that are great fits for the native Aussies, but what about the outsiders? If you are planning to vacation in Australia, or really, really, want to find a date or mate in the land down under, there are several traditions and customs you must know before heading out.

Visiting the Pub

Let’s see how it’s done.

For those unfamiliar a pub is a bar or club, but usually a bar. When you visit a pub in Australia it is customary for each member of a social group to buy a round for the entire group. Seems simple enough, however a bit of caution must be taken, along with some careful planning.

First, count how many members of your group there are, remember if each of you buys a round, which is how many drinks you will be expected to drink on this grand outing, so try and keep your group a bit smaller. If on a date, this is simple enough as it will be just the two of you and you can trade rounds back and forth, but if the group is large you are going to be just a wee bit plastered, so plan ahead.

The second piece of advice is really in conjunction with the first, if you have a large group with you, which means a much higher tab at the pub so make sure you have enough money. It’s no fun for anyone for one member of the group not to be able to pay their fair share of the bill, so be sure to bring plenty of money; you never know when your group will get larger either.

Dining Out

This is a mistake in Australia.

Going out for dinner is pretty simple but the custom is different in Australia than in other countries. In Australia, when the bill arrives, each member is expected to pay their own way. Even on a date each party pays their way for the dinner. You can politely offer to pay for both when on a date, but don’t be pushy as this might not lead to a second date for you.

Taking a Piss

Who said taking a piss must be easy?

Yup, I said it, what are you going to do about it? Let me explain, this is a common expression in Australia and while people in other parts of the world might be offended at this slang, to Aussies it is perfectly normal, acceptable, and actually help keep things lively and fun.

No, taking a piss is not actually using the restroom; instead it is simply a joke, usually a very direct and harsh one given to a person. This joke is very direct in nature and is only meant to be a bit of good humored ribbing, not meant to be taken seriously. Be sure to never joke about someone who is not present as this is really offensive to the Aussies.

An example of ‘taking a piss’ would be if the friends of your date came to your table and asked your date why they would date such a slob or pig, or loser. It’s not meant to offend you although it sounds like it should, but meant to actually show their approval of you as a choice and if you handle it with laughter or a quick one-liner back, you will be instantly accepted by the group.

Australia is a beautiful country with many diverse, friendly and fun people, if you are looking for a date whether living or visiting in Australia keep in mind the sites and customs I have shared with you here. Have a great time and remember not to take offense at some of the jokes and language used, have fun.
